I’m Druid Tupan (oxytone) in Belenus World. Tupã (in its original language) is the Brazilian aborigine legendary thunder god. As you can see, I’m Brazilian, but I live in Portugal (to be precise, in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel Island, Azores) for about 20 years. I’ve been playing Celtic Heroes since one year ago, but just a few minutes per day. I started the game to see how it works. And now, I’m hooked, damn it.
As I grown up alone, my skills configuration always tend to make a Druid a DPS character. When I was about level 50, I tried some clans, but I didn’t find a reason why should I belong to one of them. My clan mates never helped me, neither asked me they for help. Finally, I’ve been recruited to Kodiak Reavers Clan. My chieftain and generals were concerned about my evolution, for the very first time. They were closely watching me: my quests to complete, my level, my behavior about my clan mates, my requests, my needs. They were always ready to help, although they let me play alone, when I wanted to, respecting my will. In exchange, they unconditionally demand of me (and deserve) honor, correctness and loyalty.
Druids are the most difficult characters to evolve. They are fragile as greenhouse-flowers (they don’t have a resistant armor), weak as frogs (they don’t have a powerful weapon, therefore they can’t cause physical damage in melee combat), but, to level up, they must kill the same bosses that other characters need to kill. Their armor and weapons are enchantments, spells and charms. Nobody can heal or protect, though, more than a Druid does. Besides that, it is the character that most skills is able to have (which may be turned into a disadvantage – Druids have the same allocable skill points to distribute among a higher number of skills).
My mother language is not English, but Portuguese. So, be complacent about my way to write when I’m playing – Celtic Heroes doesn’t have grammar and spell checker, neither thesaurus, as the program I used to write this post.
I’m NOT a multitasker. So, I will not engage a conversation when I’m fighting or healing. If you don’t get a prompt answer from me, please be patient. As soon as possible, I’ll respond.
I can’t play every time I want. I tried to convince my real life boss that it was a good way to break stress, but he didn’t buy it… I tried to persuade my real life wife that it was a good pastime, but she didn’t buy it either… So, my playing is interrupted and fickle.
Sometimes I log in just to kill Urgan (Sewers – nice gold) or to make some counts (I developed a Numbers Sheet with my skills – It helps me to choose the next skill to increment). Sometimes I log out with no warning – battery dead, internet crash, visitors knocking at the door, wife arriving home, ... I apologize for that.
Some Advices and Tips
- Celtic Heroes is a social game. Respect other players, mainly the weaker ones. Everybody wants and deserves a good time. A stranger is a friend that you don’t know yet.
- Every time you scam, you lose a lot of friends. Remember: this game is about making real friends and not defeating virtual enemy monsters.
- As quicker you level up, as faster you will end the game. Don’t play in a rush. Don’t burn stages. Stick with the storyline and complete your quests.
- Ask me to help you complete a quest or defeat a boss. Don’t beg me for gold, for my dropped items or for my account. If you do so, you throw away the respect you’re trying to build.
- Don’t steal other player’s kills. If a player attacks an enemy before you do, even if the subject is not locked, don’t attack him.
- If you want to help another player, heal him, or wait him to lock his enemy. Then you can help him to kill the enemy.
- Keep the chat clean. Your messages must be simple and objective. Don’t be a pain to your clan mates, writing nonsense every 15 seconds. Avoid using dirty words. There must be a child or even a well-behaved girl in our clan.
- Kodiak Reavers Clan is a fellowship. Don’t sell a thing to your clan mates. Give it to them.
- Of course, if your chief calls you to kill a boss, you’d better go.
- If you get a boss dropped item you don’t need yet, offer to your chief or general. They’ll be more powerful to help you, when you need them.
- Avoid inviting me to group in Arena. When I have to fight there in PVP, I always lose. My PVP rank is ‘Pathetic’ (it’s too humiliating).
- It’s easy to kill a Druid in the arena or in duels. Be nice with Druids, though. Sooner or latter you will learn that you need them.
- I know vanity is devil’s preferred sin. But if you think I heal and protect well, don’t whisper it to me. Shout it, and I’ll be at your service! (LOL)
Tupan, In Real Life
I’m married and father of 4 children. I’m 49 years old, and my wife thinks I should be wiser than what she thinks I am. ‘Almost 50 years old and wasting time with videogames!’, she complains. I don’t care. But I avoid irritating her. All married guys know what I’m talking about. When you get married against your beloved girlfriend, you’ll know that too…
